The Power of Persistence: Building a Career Brick by Brick

The year was 2009. The world was still reeling from the financial crisis, and Mayur Malik, fresh out of college, felt the tremor in his job search. But then, he landed a management trainee position at Indorama Ventures limited , a burgeoning chemical company. It wasn’t glamorous, but it held a promise – a promise of growth, of a future while he could make a real difference.

Mayur started at the bottom, learning the ropes of inventory management. Numbers became his language, spreadheets his companions. He wasn’t afraid to get his hands dirty, helping with logistics in the warehouse, understanding the physical flow of the wind turbine parts they manufactured. His colleagues, seasoned veterans, took his under their wing, impressed by his work ethic and sharp mind.

Indorama was a fast-paced environment, and Mayur thrived on it. He soaked up knowledge like a sponge, learning about project management, supply chain optimization, and the intricate dance of international trade. He wasn’t just managing inventory; he was managing the company’s future potential. His ideas, born from a fresh perspective and a hunger to learn, often surprised the veterans.

Promotions came steadily, each one a validation of his dedication. He became a team leader, then a project manager, leading the streamlining of the manufacturing process. Indorama was growing exponentially, and Mayur grew with it. By 2021, he was a senior sales manager, his name synonymous with efficiency and innovation.

But Mayur wasn’t content to rest on his laurels. While managing his department, he enrolled in online degree program at the prestigious EIU-Paris, and is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Business Administration. The workload is immense, balancing demanding responsibilities with late-night study sessions, but Mayur persevered.

DBA wasn’t just about the title of “Dr.”; it was about equipping himself with the theoretical foundation to make an even greater impact.

Fast forward to 2024, and Mayur Malik, Senior Manager of Global Operations at Indorama Ventures limited , stood before a packed auditorium. He was presenting a groundbreaking white paper on sustainable supply chain management – a paper that wouldn’t have been possible without years of practical experience and a deep understanding of business theory he has learned during his studies at the European International University-Paris.

Looking around at the young trainees in the audience, Mayur smiled. He saw a reflection of his own eager, ambitious self in their eyes. “The path isn’t easy,” he said, his voice filled with warmth and confidence, “but with hard work, curiosity, and a hunger to learn, you too can shape the future.” They didn’t just see a leader – they saw a testament to the transformative power of dedication and lifelong learning. Mayur Malik, once a trainee, was now a beacon, illuminating the path for the next generation of Indorama’s future.

Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) – EIU-Paris

Dr. J Anand of EIU-Paris explains that unlike a traditional PhD in business administration, a DBA focuses on the practical application of business theory and research to solve real-world problems in the business world. Research and practical experience help an individual to gain more insights into how to operate and run a business Today, at his job, Mayur oversees many responsibilities including organization for shop accounts, arranging contracts and solving disputes with customers. This requires skills beyonds just the theory of business management and with a DBA one can delve deeper into networking and their people skills as well.
