Meet Dr. Marry Gunaratnam, an EIU-Paris graduate and an award-winning technology executive with a remarkable career spanning over two decades. Her journey is a testament to the power of continuous learning and strategic leadership in the ever-evolving world of technology.
Dr. Gunaratnam’s expertise is evident in her impressive track record across financial services, healthcare, and the public sector. As Senior Vice President of Information Technology at Northern Credit Union, she has successfully led multi-million dollar initiatives, protecting over $2 billion in assets and ensuring regulatory compliance for more than 80,000 members. Her leadership has been instrumental in strengthening cybersecurity and modernizing IT systems.

Before her current role, Dr. Gunaratnam held key leadership positions at JPMorgan, where she championed Agile practices and enhanced regulatory programs, driving significant results across the organization. She also made a lasting impact in digital health by spearheading the creation of secure digital platforms, including a healthcare referral system (IRIS) and a medical transportation coordination platform (CCTC) for Eastern Ontario.
Dr. Gunaratnam’s commitment to education is profound. She holds a Professional Doctorate in Applied Digital Transformation & Systems Engineering from EIU-Paris, a Master’s in Biomedical Engineering, and is currently pursuing an Executive MBA. As a licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) and a holder of prestigious certifications like PMP, Six Sigma Black Belt, and Lean Process Certified, her credentials speak for themselves.
Her dedication and strategic vision have not gone unnoticed. Dr. Gunaratnam has been honored as one of Canada’s Top 40 Under 40 and Ottawa’s Top Forty Under 40 and was a finalist for the Businesswoman of the Year Awards. She is also a respected thought leader, frequently sharing her insights on AI strategy, cybersecurity, and digital transformation at conferences worldwide.
