The need for polymaths
In our era, there are two types of people in the working world: specialists and polymaths. The former focus their efforts on training in a defined area of knowledge and becoming experts with the ability to solve complex problems in this field. Polymaths, on the other hand, are those who have knowledge and skills in a variety of disciplines, and apply that set of tools in an interdisciplinary way to propose creative solutions.
Although both types of professionals are of great importance, today we will focus on polymaths. They not only possess a wide range of knowledge, but they excel at connecting ideas and concepts in an innovative way. Many of the most important problems we face as a society require an interdisciplinary solution.
Dr. Arunabha Bhattacharjee, a modern polymath
An outstanding polymath who has contributed in various ways to our society is Dr. Arunabha Bhattacharjee. Before moving on to his brand-new career, it is necessary to take a look at his academic credentials which show his deep aspiration to be a change agent with various tools.
Arunabha Bhattacharjee completed his Bachelor’s degree in Computers Applications from Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology, during which time he won Multiple State Level, District Level, Zonal Level contests in the field of Oratory and Group dynamics.
He then obtained his Postgraduate Diploma in Management (Banking) with First Class from Manipal Academy of Higher Education. In 2020, he obtained his Doctorate in Business Administration from the Indian School of Business Management and Administration. He also holds Master’s degrees in the fields of Psychology (from Western State University, California) and Executive MBA from Indian Institute of Technology, Patna IIT
Beyond Boundaries: The PhD Journey of Arunabha Bhattacharjee
An important milestone in Dr. Arunabha Bhattacharjee’s career has been obtaining his PhD in Business Administration from the European International University, Paris in June 2024, having started in 2021.

According to him, “Completing a PhD from one of the world’s top 100 universities has been a transformative experience for both my career and personal life. European International University is not just my Alma Mater now; it’s an emotion that will stay with me forever.”
The career of a polymath
Dr. Arunabha Bhattacharjee has an impressive track record. In 2010, he was selected as a Microsoft Student Partner in a global program aimed at students who lead and help in their local tech community. He then held positions as Assistant Manager, Deputy Manager and Manager in various financial and staff training areas for ICICI Bank, HSBC, Axis Bank, SEGURO, Choithrams, and Life Pharmacy.
He currently serves as Manager in Learning & Development for Landmark Group. In this role, his role has been to empower employees’ growth and develop their knowledge, skills, and capabilities to drive better business performance. In his own terms, “Focusing on human capability development isn’t just my role as the Lead of L&D (HR) for one of the largest footwear and accessories retail brands in the Middle East; it’s my mission to unlock human potential in the workplace through innovative learning strategies, thus contributing to a magnum opus. I owe this to the application-based learnings from my Alma Mater – EIU, Paris”.
Not only that, but Dr. Arunabha Bhattacharjee is a two-time TEDx Speaker and is recognized as an ICF-CCE Certified Coach. The list of 40 Under 40 HRs in Asia includes him as an exponent and reference for those who understand the development, training and education of organizational staff. As a speaker, HR expert, award winning author, and an educator, Dr. Arunabha Bhattacharjee is a true polymath.
